Who says a convict can't change
that same man that stole can't
turn into that man that gave
who said that girl couldn't have a career
just because she had a baby don't mean
    she can't go anywhere

Ain't nothing in this world always set in stone
Nobody ever got so far lost that they didn't have a home
Aint nothing bout your future always the way its supposed
To be that's why you look forward to change just like me

    Can't nobody tell you
    you're destined to fail
    They can beat you down
Mistreat you and give nothing but hell
But nothing in this world can see that you don't prevail
    the strength you build today
    Will carry through tomorrow
but you must build you own because
This my child you can not
    barrow
When life burdens you down just remember one thing
They can cage a bird up
But how will they ever get it to not sing

Ain't nothing in this world always set in stone
nobody ever got so far lost that they didn't have a home
Ain't nothing bout your future always the way its supposed
To be that's why you look forward to change just like me

This is a piece by the older spirit in me. She doesn't have a name yet but i'm interested to see what my fellow poets think her name shoud be. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

you know that's right nothing has a set mark on it
and all things do change for better and worse daily
one whom they may cast off will rise above all to be
the best they can be .........i hear ya !

I really luv this scribe because I can identify.

who said that girl couldn't have a career
just because she had a baby don't mean
    she can't go anywhere

I am that girl and I have overcome and made it through. Thanks to the Good Lord and my strong will to succeed. My son is 21,out the house (almost finished with college) and I have done well for myself in the career dept. And yes I am patting myself on the back because at 16 I was not sure if I would make it through but I knew my will and faith was strong. And as I approach my 37th birthday I am feeln pretty good about it all.

This is a really awesome write that speaks so much.

This piece was really uplifting and encouraging. I like when poetry hit the spot like it was a snickers or sunday dinner after a long church service. This is what I needed to read today. Thank you for a wonderful flo cuz.
