Is it real what my eyes can see?
How you shake your head to say no
How you smile when you speak as if to say hello

How you nod your head as if to say why
Is it real what I see
    or a phasade?
    I know sometimes

    I'm

    Insecure

    Feeling completely bare

    Emotions won't hide
Wishing I could close my eyes
And just dissapear into thin air

    However, the eyes don't lie
    Still trying to break free
    From life subtlties

    It's the little things
That bring meaning to your life
    That add up
    To encourage you
    Or to discourage
Quickly building you or tearing you down

    Or wearing at ya mind
    It's one thing after another

    As I find myself
    Pondering the reasons
    Day after day
The things that take my energy away

So I reminice on a moment or a memory
    Something pleasant
    That lets me know
    I can manage
    Life antics

    Is it real?
    All this that I gather
    If only I could know.

    I find myself

    Pinching myself

Trying to wake up from this dream
    Trying to recover from things

    That are just the things
    That happen to people
    Because they happen

    That you can't avoid

    Still the shock
    To my mind
    Body
    And soul

    Is a delayed reaction
That I see I have no control

    Whats inside my heart
    Is something that I wonder

    Is it a selfish ambition
Where I don't want to think about people dieing
    Or people starving
    Or people hurting
Or all the people I see under the weather from day to day

I find myself day dreaming sometimes at work
    And all my kids
Quickly snap me back into reality
As they quarrel with one another and go on about their play

    "Teacher, teacher"
"She did that, he did that to me!"
    "What?"
    "Johnny!, come here right now."

"I thought I told you not to hit your friends!"

"Are you suppossed to be hitting your friend because you want the toy?"
    "Is that okay?", I say
    "Tell Haleigh you're sorry"

"If I see you doing that again you have a time out."

    I dare not turn around
    in outer space

That's like an accident waiting to happen
As Cameron breaks his arm because he fell from the monkey bars
Or Hanah gets pushed on the ground by Johnny again to scrape her leg from falling down

    Is it real?
    Lawd, have mercy now.

For sure ...it is real, and as life goes on...it gets realer!

Experiences can feel dreamlike even as they are occuring. If it's a pleasant experience we just float in it, a horrible experience is more like a waking nightmare. I love the way you bring something new to the poetic table.
