Well no one can argue that Mary is the Queen of Hip Hop and R&B, but what do ya’ll think about Ashanti being called the princess of Hip Hop & R&B? I’m sure you heard her single “Foolish”. She sang on Ja Rule’s song “Always On Time” and “What’s Love” with Fat Joe. I’m really feelin her and I think she’s gonna live up to that title. If you feelin her too I found some info on http://www.murderincrecords.com. Let me know whats up.

    lol @ sexyredd....

I agree with you too girl.

Caramel to be honest with you, I think that she really cannot subject to this title, which was given to her by her coworkers and producer. And true enough, Mary J's title was penned to her by Puff Daddy, but everyone agreed. Mary's music comes from her heart. There is no need to synthesize her voice, while Ashanti's voice on her album is computer generated. We all know that when Ashanti performs, you hear NY accent all in her voice. Why not on her album??? All her music sounds pretty much the same, and I don't even think she writes her own music. All of her music that she wrote had to be put in a poetry book, I guess because Irv Gotti didn't like it. You can call me a hater if you please, but like I said I'm just stating my opinion. No one can be mad at Ashanti cuz she is sho nuff makin her money.

    Is she becoming beyonce?

She is not Queen material. The likes of Irv Gotti cannot speak talent and worth into existence!!! On another note, I saw her this past weekend at the Essence festival and thought it was Beyonce on stage. Ashanti looks just like her now, right down to the golden hair and revealing outfits..what's up with that???

I have to agree with everyone else on the page!! Everyone of the hits that made it to the charts, were either with another performer, or were remakes of another song. The title was a gig to get her records to sell. I don't like Irv as it is, so maybe I'm just byassed. How you gonna try to make gangsta rap bubble gum? It's just not making much sense. Ja coulda gone places if he woulda stuck to HIM. Instead of trying to go with they THOUGHT was going to sell. But NO I don't think that she will live up to that title.

Ashanti is no Princess of R&B. I'm not hating or being envious the success she had in '02, but the girl can't sing her way out of a wet paper bag with a hole in it. Her sound is too much like Aaliyah and it's not working. To me, she should just stick to writing songs because she can carry a tune, not sing.
