    Been thinking bout you
you, and that wisdom with an iron fist
shot straight from the hip, a person
got the facts, not just the gist
Your family consisted of haves and
have nots. And you were well aware
that there was some brown nosing
you'd have to do, to get your share
of the wealth. You weren't wit it
    So, you didn't git it...
Instead, you went your own way
worked hard from a young age
    had children early too
It couldn't have been easy for you
And from what I heard, and came to know
you spoke your mind with no regrets so
if anyone made you mad, they knew it,
gave them quite a tongue lashing through it.
But we also knew, if we needed a dollar and you had it
it was ours, even if you were left with nary a penny.
I'm still amazed at how you outlived all your children
not by only a few years, but by many.
Your three children died in their fifties, but
you lived to be ninety one.
    I think I would've been done
couldn't have lived beyond that, yet
you lived on, giving iron fist wisdom to me.
Putting that truth out there, not to hurt, but to heal
What precious gems your words have come to be
Not to defame or blame, but to have me see the real
The older I get, the clearer I see
I've been thinking of you lately, Nana.
    Strong woman you were
    strong of presence
    strong of mind
It is to you that I now pay reverence...
you, and your iron fist wisdom

    ...speechless

    <appears suddenly>

Now this really touched me. Not only because I honored the memory of my grandmother in a poem recently, but because it is RAW unadultrated feeling and passion. It is such a great joy to read another's memories of a loved one. To be able to see through their eyes what that person meant to them and how they are remembered and missed in the very same breath. It is through memories and the expression of those memories that we gain immortality.

Greatly moved by your expression and the melodious flow that voiced it!

    keep the words moving

    peace&1luv
