    Hello Everyone,

I do feel there is a book inside of me, waiting to be written. Is it easy to do? Do I just "start writing?"

I've been asked about self-publishing, how it's done, etc., and I don't know the answer. Do you? If so, start a new thread and tell us about it. Include links if you know of sites that provide more information.

I've heard that we can't get publishing contracts as easily as others, is that true? Do you know of any African-American publishers? Do they have web sites? If so, include their link in your post.

Book Clubs seem to be very popular. If you have a Book Club and/or web site, please start a new thread listing it, so others can visit. Share the new books/authors you're reading as well as any announcements you have. Is membership open to the public? Tell us all about it. Don't forget your link.

Is writing as simple as talking, only done on paper? Yes, I do love to talk (oftentimes too much) and have already been called "long-winded" on my own discussion forum! It only made me smile. :)

Then I received this paragraph in an email. Thank you Aqil! It is so beautiful, so encouraging, so funny, that it prompted me to start this new category. I hope you don't mind me sharing it with others ...

Do not become intoxicated with the excessive exuberance of your own inexhaustible verbosity. In promulgating your esoteric cogitation and articulating your superficial sentimentalities and amicable, philosophical and psychological observations, beware of platitudinous ponderosities. Let your sententious writings possess a clarified conciseness, a compact comprehensibleness, and a concatenated cogency. Eschew all conglomerations of garrulity and bombastic loquaciousness. In other words, say what you mean, mean what you say, and abstain from ponderous phraseology...

    Whew!

I'm going to work on this. Unfortunately, I write like I talk ... hmmmmm ... an uphill climb to say the least! As a matter of fact, my Mother used to tell me, "Lola, you don't know enough to talk that much." :)

I believe each of us has had different opportunities and/or experiences. If your life's path has been blessed with knowledge regarding writing and/or publishing books, please feel free to share it here. If you are seeking that knowledge, ask the questions, hopefully someone will be kind enough to answer them.

    (Was this concise?)

    Much Love and Peace,

    Destee
