According to the U.N.'s Human Development Index, the independent Caribbean nation of Barbados has reached the highest category of the index. It is now in the "very high human development" and classed as a developed nation. Barbados is now the most developed nation in the western hemisphere outside of the United States and Canada; and the most developed nation in the Caribbean/Latin America:

(Also note that The Bahamas is also another predominately black nation extremely close to being classified as a developed nation)

Here are some facts about Barbados:
Population: 289,000
Ethnic makeup: 93% black, 3% white, 3% multiracial, 1% South Asian
Life Expectancy: 75 years old

Yes, it's a small country but Barbados does really prove a lot. It shows that a black nation can succeed under black rule and shatters the failed ideology that blacks are inferior.

So what do you guys think that other similar countries can learn from Barbados?

This winter, I will be visiting Barbados on my way to Trinidad and can't wait!!

Yep, Rihanna! :D

How is Barbados the "first" developed black country? There were plenty of developed countries with and run by "black" people(I use quotations because being called black is fairly new), before these certain civilizations were torn down, and built up again, with another name, and another face, like white people's face.

They aren't the first. :10500: So, it's great you're showing such a positive attitude, but you're really making black people seem incompetent saying something like that.

“persons living below the poverty line in Barbados has double, since the last study on living conditions and poverty was undertaken over a decade ago”? Pertinent in the report is that 19.3% of Barbadian individuals in 15% of households earn income below the poverty line – 9.1% of individuals 7% of households were living below the indigence line at the time the survey was carried out. An easy conclusion to make, anecdotally though it is, these numbers with the prevailing economic hardships must be trending upward.

Now if this is what the Black Bajans themselves say, then???

And how can you say it is a Black nation if it is still a colony headed by the Queen of England and run economicaly basically by Whites?

It functions as a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, modelled on the British Westminster system, with Elizabeth II, Queen of Barbados, as head of state, represented locally by the Governor-General, Elliott Belgrave, and the Prime Minister as head of the government.
