    Pure innocence rested in protection
    Her hazel eyes, big and bright was
    A mirror into her soul as she lifted
    Her head from her mother’s shoulder;

    I fell in love with her spirit for it
    Echoed from within the beauty of life
    And the innocence of her love as she
    Looked at life as a simple playground;

    Her smile was gentle as it stretched to
    Greet the dimples that appeared on her
    Caramel colored skin leaving little room
    For pain nor the frown of a life ahead;

    Her mother swayed left to right as her
    Seed’s arms lay limp against hers and
    Her sandal covered feet dangled under
    her mother’s sweet, loving embrace;

    she knew nothing more than the security
    of the arms that she rested on unaware
    of the situations of the day as everyone
    else dances she just rest frozen in time;

    I want to wrap her in the safety of me
    Protecting her from the ills of the world
    And yet all I would do is smile hoping
    Her smile would bring me serenity;

    She lifter her head peeking at me from
    Behind the shelter of her mother’s face
    Making sure I only saw the curiosity
    Shining brightly from her left eye;

    Her look made me insecure for she took
    So long to respond staring at me to study
    My moves and my responses making sure
    My gesture was not without simple joy;

    And after the song ended and the place she
    Rested no longer swayed side to side she
    Paused for a moment to fully see me and
    Offer me a drop of peace carried on her smile…

    Simply beautiful
    Your artistry of words paints a picture most innocent and pure of the unconditional love and trust only a child can know and give. As parents and trusted adults the trust and sincerity of a child is simply the most awesome challenge we shall ever face.

    Excellent imagery
    Thanks
