America
Getting off on a liberty fix
For what took place in 1776
For those who left their motherland
They came to the new world
They shook the Indian hand

Set up shop
The new world grew
Wealth and power the manifestation
Needed to cut England loose
And all that taxation
Telling them what to do
Without representation

Soon the Red Man was under control
The process began to take all their land
Christian religion took their native soul
The new natives got New York City for 24 dollars
Hell no
England can’t have any of this
They wanted to be free
So they raised a warring fist
“We’ll pay no more tax
Our fight has just begun”
They formed an army
Led by George Washington

The Red Coats put up a so-so fight
Starting when Paul Revere
Gave a warning in the night
It wasn’t so much
That England gave up
Other tasks were at hand
Like economically controlling
The continent of Europe

So America was born
Complete with slavery
A country not yet torn
New frontiers to blaze in the west
And for over two centuries
America was the best

But greed and hypocrisy
Took over this land
And for those on the economic bottom
It’s more than they can stand

The “haves” and the “have-nots”
The gap gets wider
No one gives a ****
About a positive solution
Wake up America
Before you have another revolution
