the near north
for all the headaches and heartaches...ever felt
all the tears...ever shed and the pain you've held
inside. deep inside
you've cried over the many lies
and false alibis
men have concocted
for the opportunity to rock you

to abuse and misuse you
and the love you offer
though, your heart is blue

but they don't understand
he didn't understand
i can't understand why a woman like you
uniquely beautiful and passionate, too
why dID you
settle
for hand outs
nights...without
love that ran out
it doesn't have to be about
distrust and doubts
doubts
DOUBTS
about who you are
cause LOW self-esteem
CAN make it seem
like you're worthless to all
but it's not your fault
coz of the things they all did
boys...trying to be men
men
MEN
still...in the end

i feel sorry for you
but not for you
for the things boys do

i'm sorry.
