Just sittin’ on this bench and
I see such pain and grief and
    My mind is overwhelmed that
Life for me ain’t that bad
Cuz I see the hunger of one child
I see the pain of one child
    And my pain can’t compare
Forget that cancer took my hair
    These children hunger for food
    They hunger for a roof
    To cover their unlaid heads
In the hospital I had a bed
So my pain is so [email protected] small
Can’t believe I wanted to fall
    These children want one small
Thing that could save them all
I may have found love and lost it
But at least God let me find it
I know how love can feel
I’ve seen that it can heal
I don’t have no right to complain
Never should’ve asked God to dull my pain…

Just sittin’ on this bench and
I see a decrepit lady and
My heart begins to pour out
Each beat is throbbing pain out
    This lady is so frail
Her pain just makes her fail
Wish I didn’t know her story
But soon she’ll be in God’s glory
Lord don’t let her feet fail now
Gotta make it for her grandchildren now
    Promised her only daughter
She wouldn’t let their stomach’s hunger
She’s ill and her heart is weak
Selling her pills so they can eat
Lord I pray she can make it over
One more day to make it over…

Just sittin’ on this bench and
I see a man in anguish and
    He’s distraught and all alone
I’m tempted to comfort him on my own
But what the hell would I say?
I don’t know what killed his day
But I can at least say a prayer
To God to shower down his care
I may be sick and so weak
    But God keeps strengthening me
Just enough to keep me alive
Even after lost love I survive
In my heart I know we’ll be
    We’ll be together happily
But that just isn’t God’s plan
    I don’t agree but I still stand
He loves me this I know
And he stood by me I know
But right now we need our space
And can love from far away
But my thoughts turn back to the man
I know for him God has a plan…

It’s night, I’m on this bench and
I see a whirl of faces and
Each one faces so many problems
And I know I am one of them
    Lord what can I do?
When I can barely get through?
And they are worse off than me
I’m at loss for words you see?
Just sittin’ on this bench and
I see a homeless man and
    He stares back at me
As I pack my pen and poetry
    It’s been another day
Gone by so fast without replay
    I seen so many tears
And yet I am still here
In the distance I hear sirens
Knowing they could’ve been mine and
I lift my eyes up to God
    Filled with so much love
But I still head back to my home
    Wishing I wasn’t alone
“In due time” God whispers back
“In due time” Love will come back…

OOOh this was so heartbreaking, it remind me of a poem I heard years ago that make me stop complaining. These are the words I remember:
"Lawd, I don't even have shoes to put on my feet, then I passed a girl with no feet, and I said...lawd forgive me when I whine...I have two feet, the world is mine"
Reading this poem, brought back memories of that poem. thank you so much for sharing this with us, it is a sad, but beautiful piece.

Wow, Lovely you just ripped out my heart strings girl....I know you didn't mean for it to be a bad thing but As I was reading this, I was listening to "A Song for You" trying to compose a poem of my own. You got me over here, ...man, I wish I could just put my arms around you girl. It seems like you're going thru a series of storms but don't worry. God is on your side and you have friends and family(including the one here) that will always care for you and pray for you:grouphug:

What I felt in this was the empathy you have for others. Yes, we can find others worse off, but that doesn't lessen your pain. God sees the beauty inyu and your thoughts, and will bless you. I'll bet he is already blessing you now. The emotions in this were so acutely vivid....wow.

Interesting you posted this today, Lovely, as I had this experience while walking down the street near my home today. So much pain around. It's too much to bear most of the time. This is deeply heartfelt, sister. I appreciate you bringing this to our table.
