This is probably the only summer film I'll see in theaters. I liked that clip they had of the Android commercials and the TED lecture.

    Should be great.

    The clips? Nah:

I hope the film is scary though. I've never tried an IMAX or 3-d movie so if that format is available for this film I may give it a go. It'll probably be expensive, haha.

it will be IMAX 3D. be careful. there are two IMAX formats. full IMAX and not really IMAX. you have to check.
in philly they have a phony IMAX. you have to go to the suburbs to get the full IMAX theatre.
if you do not know you will not get the full IMAX. this is the type of film that IMAX was created for.

That's good to know. I'll need to make sure I know something about the place I go to ahead of time.

    I. Cannot. Wait...until 'Prometheus' comes out!
'Prometheus' is probably the only must-see on my list besides 'The Hobbit' and 'DARK KNIGHT'.
I wonder if humanity actually did rec'v an encoded invite by the 'Designers'?
Maybe they just think they did.
    ...or maybe it's a trap.
Interesting that they'd purposely name the vessel 'Prometheus'.

Just really hoping that it doesn't disappoint.

I won't be able to see it until the week-days. I work doubles on the weekends. Actually, the real problem is finding someone to go with. My fiance probably won't be in town and I don't have too many black girlfriends that'll watch things like that. But let Tyler Perry make another melodramatic Madea movie....
They're always asking why I don't attend their movie nights. Every time someone hosts a movie night, it's a sap-fest.

    ********************

I totally understand what you say about Ridley Scott.
...but I like his horror/sci fi. It isn't overt horror/scariness. It's done with skill.
    Look at 'Alien'.
The alien was hardly shown. The audience just got an impression of the creature...and what we saw of it, didn't help matters. The creature actually looks other-wordly and unnatural. Foreign. Alien.
You don't have to throw a bucket of blood at the screen to elicit a reaction and show the villain running at the individual with a knife.
Music, shadow/lighting and the reaction of the characters is enough.
This is a pretty good example...

I read it was related to the Aliens franchise, but from what ive gathered it deals more with the Space Jokeys (if you saw Alien 1, that's the humanoid-alien with its chest burst open inside the alien spacecraft) then with the insectoid aliens. I hope that's the case because the aliens are overdone.
