You asked who I am and yet
Everyday you speak my name
You see,
I’m the one who “knows what happened”
I’m the one that “cares”
I’m the one sitting in the chair next to you
I’m the one that’s “there”

I’m the one who “will listen to you”
I’m the one who’ll be home tomorrow
I’m the one who knows the troubles you’ve seen
I’m the one who knows your sorrows

I’m the one who “will ever give you a job”
I’m the one who “will ever love someone like you”
I’m the one who “understand your pain”
I’m the one who “knows you better than you”

I’m the one who’s in the woods when the tree falls
And yes, it definitely makes a sound
I’m the one here to answer your call
I’m the one that’s “ever around”

I’m the one who broke the table, glass, lamp,
Mirror, and the window on your father’s car;
I’m the one your playing with when your
Parents ask you where you are;

I’m the one you call whenever you want to avoid
Consequences for actions that you’ve done
And I’m the one you call upon when you won’t
Accept the truth about who you really are;

If you haven’t figured out who I be, just think
the next time you’re asked, “Is this seat taken?”
and then realize that although the seat is empty
doesn’t mean that I’m not there

if Nobody was there then,
why did somebody leave the dollar on the ground?
Somebody take the last donut?

How did you know somebody stole your car
when nobody saw what really happened?
How did you know somebody’s been in your house
When nobody was supposed to be there?

How did somebody have to know what happened
When nobody was there to see it?
Why do you need somebody to be there when
Nobody volunteers to do it?

And does somebody always sign his or her name
Anonymous so that nobody knows whom you are?

So if somebody does so much and yet
nobody was there to witness it,
then whom do we know who is who?

something to think about...
