    I’m a Black Female,
    I Don’t Need a TAN

    I’m a Black Female
    I don’t need a TAN
    A Triflin’ @zz N`gga
    Acting like a Boy
    But tryna be “Da Man”

By virtue of the color of my skin
I have a great deal to contend with
In the world, we’re operating with two strikes
Then we come home to put up with shoulda, coulda, woulda, and might?

Girlfriend, please don’t get that TAN
    Once you get one
All they do is tell you what you can’t
    And what you can

    Intimidated by you
    All his insecurities cut through
    Instead of lifting you higher
They reach up to pull you down
Afraid that you might become something better

    Unlike a real MAN
A TAN cannot be happy with your accomplishments and success
He’s stuck in his own world
Competing, instead of supporting, so he feels like he’s the best

    He can’t feed your mind
Because he’s too poor in his own self-worth
Constantly asking you to have his baby
But he can’t even help you give birth to your dreams

TANs do not love you, they hurt
Like a cancer, they use your mind and body for their own selfish gains
    You stay there because
You don’t know if your heart can take the cure and live through the pain

What will a TAN do for you anyway?
Accuse you lying, cheating, and not loving him everyday?

You can’t teach a TAN how to be a MAN
That’s not job your to do
But the fact that you have one
    Pisses him off too
He doesn’t feel like a man, when he makes less than you

My ancestors did too much for me
For me to disappoint them by putting up with some **** like that
It hurt, I cried, I got up and moved on
I don’t need no TAN, cuz my family got my back

    I’m a Black Female
    I don’t need a TAN
    A Triflin @zz N`gga
    Acting like a Boy
    But tryna be “Da Man”
