What do you see when you look at me?
Someone you've known for many years
But you never learned to read my joys
Never learned to read my fears

Failing to read an emotional transition
Illiterate to whatever my mental condition
My life placed before you in large, bold print
Yet you fail to read me
Though your eyes strain and squint

    By truth in conversation
I've made the print even larger
    Exposing myself
More of me for you to see
    Still you can't read
    The man I call me

    Too bad really
One so smart and so aware
Could it be you just don't care?
Sometime I think you do read me
You just can't control what it is you see

So you just read the obvious
Each aspect of our life so predictable
Your knowledge the result of longevity
Lost in a maze of familiarity
Unable or unwilling to read the creativity
Coming from the soul of me
That's all I ever wanted you to see

    it is true

and so sad that sometimes, the closest ones to us, are the ones who know us least.

    very well done, poet.

you expose the underside of what is really going on in too many relationships behind closed doors.

Makes me shudder when I think of it this way..... :(
