Recently I composed a piece called Identity Crisis, that dealt with the issue of white AmeriKKKa's obsession with the black culture. As with almost anything, some people were offended by it. This thread is my was of trying 2 get some understanding of everyone's thoughts of white AmeriKKKa's fleecing of the black experience in this country, i.e., rock & rool, blues, jazz, and most recently Hip-Hop. By what I've seen in past years, & this is not my opinion, but a well-known fact, white AmeriKKKa has consistently embraced almost any culture that is not theirs, but hated the people who that culture originated from.

Now they have the widespread practice of elongating their earlobes, piercing their lips, wearing Hip-Hop styled clothes, nothing's wromng with the clothes wearing, but along with the clothes, they try 2 act like Hip-Hoppers, i.e. breakdancers, graf artists, & rappers. They try 2 speak how the youth in the inner city do, walk like us, wear their hair like us, but it is all a pale imitation (pun intended). Does anyone remember when MTV 1st came out, how they constantly said "All rock, all day"? Remember when they said that rap wouldn't be played on their station? Now, U hardly see rock on their station. Let me know how U feel. Speak out.

    Peace.

Say it again, brother, I don't think they heard U.

And after they've taken the culture, like the Egyptian history, the biblical history, etc., they say does the race of the people really matter?

Apparently it does, cuz if it didn't they wouldn't have tried 2 keep it a secret 4 so long that those people weren't Caucasian.

They would've tried 2 take the Asian culture, but they were smart enough 2 not let it happen.

    Will we be?

Let me give U a bullhorn & a mic, cuz they don't hear U brother Khasm.

Some would rather voice their opinion in a private message 2 me, but scared 2 come out in the open with their closed-minded statements.

It's like the Klan is up in here or something.

    Peace.

    dear positive mindset..
I read the poetry flow..which brought me over here...I liked your poem by the way..
Somethings I would like some clarity on...
What is it you want to know...or are you asking for agreement on the fact that the white youth of most of the world have taken on the "rap/hip hop" culture. Then yes they have.
Since , i believe, historically our influences are felt in other areas of music, art, etc. are you asking for suggestions of how we emotionally relate to all of this, what we can do about it...
Poetry is essence(to me) so in
that flow your emotional self was expressed...in this forum
what is it . True, the children of today who see themselves as biracial would have been called "black" and a lot of other things in another time...
What is it that we can do to help them understand , from our perspective, they are apart of our tribes (or not)...Or what of the African-Asian fusion...and or the African-Spanish fusion.. You would have to agree, i hope, that even tho everything is african rooted..we are also influenced by the spanish and the asian and the native american
Is their a way for us to express our outrage and passion so that all of our people can respond in someway. I think of Malcolm X - not everyone responded to his concept of not turning the other cheek..and yet I can't think of one who did not smile and feel proud that here was someone who spoke openly about what he believed(except maybe racist white people)
Just trying to get clarity...cause i be
one of the browner hue with family
    that don't look like me
Trying to find ways to embrace the young
who claim themselves of both races..
I tell them ..so am I-- it comes from miscegenation.

    Thank U 4 replying.

My reason 4 starting this thread is 2 give others a chance 2 voice their opinions on this subject, being that it's caused so much animosity elsewhere, so apparently people have something on their chests that they want 2 release.
So I did this, so people wouldn't use a poetry forum 2 argue their points, that's why they made this forum.

Now, I believe that multi-racial people should definitely embrace every culture that they are a product of, cuz that's who they are. I simply don't believe anyone should try 2 be what they're not, is there truly anything wrong with me disagreeing with 100% Caucasian people 2 change their demeaner 2 be what they're not?

Even the older generation of white people don't like the fact that so many of their youth are completely embracing black culture so much , that they now try 2 speak, dress, & wear their hair like we do.

Be yourself, that's all I'm saying.

Now it's different when U have a white kid that grew up surrounded by black people, cuz they absorb the culture, but U have kids that grew up in the 'burbs, only see black people on t.v.,diggin' rap & trying 2 act like they're from the inner-city.
