I know
Certainly with certainty
That I was made for you
That I was made from you
When you were just a boy
God took a fragment of your bone
And placed it in my mother’s womb
That’s why just below your heart
Lies the faintest hint of a scar
You know that scar
The one that I rub my lips across
Late at night when the moon is full
When we’re at peace as all is quiet
You know the scar that same scar
That no one can quite recall what happened
No one knows but God and I
And you… but you’ve forgotten
Still I know what transpired
Just as sure as I draw breath
It’s the epitome of perfect imperfection
It’s the mark of grace and a union unconsummated
It adds validity and solidarity
That blemish holds the confirmation of us
You embody every fiber of my being
Filling me to the very brim
Because I am a part of you
I feel as you feel… hurt as you hurt
When you’re joyous, I’m elated
When you’re in pain, I’m in sorrow
Because when you were just a boy
God took a fragment of your bone
And placed it in my mother’s womb
We’re no miracle, phenomenon, marvel,
Extraordinary prodigy of happenstance
We are one of many pious unions
Ordained by destiny and God
Love… we are one
