I wanted to be a poet
so I hung out in cafe's
    sipping cappuccino's
    scribing down stanza, in pencil,
    on the complimentary napkins
while gazing out the store front window

I wanted to be a poet
So I took daily trips to the park
laid my blanket under the biggest tree
    observing lifes many wonders
and jolting it all down on my 99cent note pad
while chasing thoughts in my mind

I wanted to be a poet
so I visited the after hour poetry clubs
    mingled with the artists
twirling strawberry daiquiries in my hand
in a smoke filled, putrid room

I wanted to be a poet
so I wrote down the pain
    I wrote down the joy
I wrote down other peoples daily routines
I wrote about everything from dog poop
    to fame

I wanted to be a poet
until I stop wanting to be a poet
cause wanting to be a poet was getting me down...
cause wanting to be a poet was getting me down...
    cause wanting...
    to be a poet...
    was...
    gettin...
    me...
    down...

I wanted to be a poet
until I realized that I am poetry
from the way my hips curves
when I tip up my glass to my parched sundried lips

to the way my eyes flutter open to see the rising of the sun
to the way my hair reaches for the heavens and tingles to its vibrations
from the way my body curves, turns, and twist
    in all the right locations
from the way my womb opens up
to reproduce a fraction of myself
then closes back up to protect my precious wealth
from the way my mind instructs me
to move, think, breathe, sing, walk, talk, love, hate, feel
to the way my heart pumps independently,
like the river that flows across the land, but still,

    to support my exisitance

    I AM POETRY!

    Poetry in motion
    Poetry in making
    Poetry in essence
    Poetry arrested
    under the laws of CREATION

I wanted desperately to be a poet
    until I realized
    I'VE REALIZED
    POETRY
    IS
    ( I )

How correct you are. If you're a poet, you just, are, there's no need to have to prove the fact. This read like a spoken word piece....did you pen this with that in mind? Much enjoyed, poet, much enjoyed.

    We are born poets...
Poetry is a form of art...in our walk, talk, Pose and just in the way we do whatever we do.

    Listen to this...

Got me two dogs that's always pooping..
and I'm forever behind them...doing the scooping
shoot, I ain't the only one what ownes these two hounds
but when it comes to the scooping, they're never around
I can't believe you got me talking about "poop"
now look at the level you done made me stoop!
see, everything we write don't really have to rhyme...
like right now...I believe it's hammer :hammer: time.
 ...*that's for making me write about poop*

I loved this piece Purple, You surely are a poet...:hearts4:
