I wanna be a woman
Who can control her life
I wanna be a mother
who doesn't let impatience
bring lasting strife
I wanna be a sister
Who somehow comprehends
her sister's tortured mind
does have a beginning and an end
I wanna be a daughter
Who does the best she can
To please my mom and dad
and make them understand
I wanna be a lover
Who can please and tease her man
When every romantic gesture
Takes careful, tedious plan
I wanna be a grilfriend (there is a difference)
Who nutures, cares, and loves
Whose there for her sweetheart
Who support helps him reach
His stars above
I wanna be a writer
Who nerver loses creativity
whose every expressive thought
flows free and generously
I wanna be a queen
whose confidence is never shaken
whose stance won't be mistaken
whose happiness can't be taken
I wanna have the sense
to make sensible choices
to teach my daughter
that only the strong ones
have the loudest voices
I wanna be needed
I wanna be sought
I wanna know that all of my precious treasures
can never be brought
I wanna stare at the day's end
And finally feel like I'm home
But most of all, I think
I wanna end this poem.
Who can control her life
I wanna be a mother
who doesn't let impatience
bring lasting strife
I wanna be a sister
Who somehow comprehends
