I tried the sun today
this is the day the sun would shine
if it were not for the trees that were blocking me
telling me just a few more days before the storm would come
the storm that would haunt me
with thoughts of you'

I tried the sun today
this the day that the sun would shine
I tried thinking of the last ice cream sandwich
I bought from the truck
would it melt if I could not get to the house in time
before the sprinkles would come from the sky
why did you have to die and only
leave me of thoughts of a chocalate eclair
from the good humor truck

I tried the sun today
the sun that would never shine
I thought about the shaved ice
in the black itatlian neighbor hood
where I experience my first new name "******"
I thought I would play out in the free sun
while you worked on your vision
but it seems your only lived with the thoughts
of another generation lost without thinking

I tried the sun today
the sun that would never shine
the sun that would never shine
the sun that would never shine
the sun that would never shine

I hope the sun never shines

Miss Annie loved the rain
