It's easy to sing the song "I know I've been changed"
Proclaming trud deliverance from a life estranged
Vowing NEVER to backslide into past sins,... obsurd
Not realizing that NEVER is a strong, strong word
The word NEVER brings out all temptations,... then & now
For the very purpose of challenging my bow
Mounting an attack from the person inside
With a barrage of whispers, discouragement, and pride
Very easy it is to fall into self, and on my own strength call
Not realizing that its my own strength that makes me fall -
Back into the things I said I'd never do again
And because of pride and self pity, I'm back that that same sin
So what went wrong,... didn't God hear my prayer
Problem was, I put more on myself than I could bear
Trying to live my WHOLE life sinless at the moment of deliverance was my crime
Instead of taking my deliverance one day at a time
