the near north
When your spirit was down
…self esteem drooping low
when your mind kept telling you
‘gurl, you gotta let go’
I SAW THE WOMAN IN YOU
When it appeared your world
Had fallen away
When opportunity came knocking
And you had nothing to say
I SAW THE WOMAN IN YOU
When your family turned their back
…talked about you like a dog
when you lost your ride
your crib
and your job
when your bank ran out
and your homies too
you fell to your knees
you didn’t know what else to do
GOD SAW THE WOMAN IN YOU
HE touched my heart
And pointed the way
Instructed my lips
On the good I could say
Still, you were hesitant
When I gave you my name
You wondered about baller
And the rest of my game
YOU’VE
Forgotten that a brutha
Sometimes come correct
No games
No lies
And delivering RESPECT
Didn’t believe that GOD
Had delivered unto you
An answer to your prayers
In the form of ME, boo.

STILL, I SEE THE WOMAN IN YOU.
