I don't know what you're feelin, how you're reelin,
or what your heart has been concealin,
but I'm here to make it plain,
that as black people we've all been in pain.
We hurt each other in the name of love
while our heart is slowly peelin....
but I wish I could touch all of you
and start this process we call healin.
To my brothers who often fake the funk,
it's okay to cry without bein a punk.
It's okay cause I look and I understand
the emotional prison locked in a man.
And to all my sisters it's hard to be
something other than what's molded by society.
But I cut off the lights when I'm all alone,
and I cry like a child instead of a man that's grown.
I cry when I walk the streets and see,
the pain in others who look just like me.
No, I don't know what you're feelin but I got your back,
who am I, I'm just a brother but I'm keepin it black.
I'm keepin it black and straight from the hip,
for we all arrived here on the same ole ships.
The only friends I have are us as I reflect,
and I depend on my people to keep a brother in check.
I depend upon you as our Creator made doves,
to just look in my eyes with reflections of love......PEACE...LOVE YA
