We could have done
something different
such as
seeking to identify
other alternatives
without
raised voices
from harden
thoughts
but instead we chose
what was
most familiar...
unhealthy
growth stunting
debilitating
opposing points
of view
never once looking
for the word
"understand" anywhere

A display of
discontentment
pacing the floor
feeling the
hallowness of
wood beneath
bare feet
allowing frustration
to overcome
our union
giving way
to conversations
that aren't truly
heard

Surely dis(gust)cussions
have
become
auditory perceptions
and preconceived notions
of what
"a thought" - thought
and who said that you did,
or moreso, who said
that I didn't ...??

A lack of trust has
edged its way into
the middle of our
home and closes
the curtains
so that others
won't see
how irate
we can be
when it gets
heated in the
living room
kitchen or
bathroom
and no fan or
air conditioning
unit can balance
the thermostat
to centrally cool
the force of
steam that
brews within

Dismayed...into
oblivion
then we ask ourselves
"why"... or ... "how"
did we let these
issues blow up
so much??
Upset
feeling SetUp
because with
arguments that
occur between
us
whether frequent
or infrequent...
paralyzed our communication
restricting and limiting
our abilities to nurture
differences and likenesses ~

....STEADFAST....

~and
...........I
.............You
................We
couldn't "grow" today ~~
