We left the plantations without squat, into a racist animalistic society with no protections, for us or our children,
but had more creativity and intitiative then we see today!

Their children went on to invent every darn thing folks take for granted and the rudiments of the technology we see today,
where are todays great Black inventors and scientists with all of our technology, and free research material?

Garvey had us unified on 4 continents at a time when technology was illegal to us,
and we are less unified with cell phones, cable, ipads, twitter facebook, texting, and youtube

    We have been provided with cogent, logical solutions to our condition, that would not give the pigs overtime, or cost exorbitant amounts of either money or time;

    From
1 the simple "Do for Self" in "Message to the Black Man", by the honorable Elijah Muhammed
2 The Charter of the OAAU, in the back of "Malcolm X a Man and his Times", by Dr John Henrik Clarke
3 "The Plan" in Chancellor Williams, "The Destruction of Black Civilizations"
4 Powernomics from Dr Claude Anderson, in "Black labor White Wealth"
5 The Nguzo Saba, coordinated by Maulana Ron Karenga ;from the revolutionary concepts of Julius Nyere
6 and last but not least "Blueprint for Black Power; a Moral, Political and Economic Imperative for the 21st Century" by Dr Amos Wilson

    So here we are after all of that since Garvey's time;

and really what have we accomplished?

Do we have any utilities? Gas , Electric, Water, Communications?
Since the monopoly status had been removed?

    What about supermarket chains?

    Major Clothing manufacter?

    Hardware chains?

So really where is our self sufficiency?

You see the embarssing thing is while we whine and cry, we are still dependent on our opressor for food clothing and shelter, even if we have our own home and land, becuase those black farmers do not have Black heirloom seed distributors to buy from , or Black companies in the US, Caribbean or Africa to buy their tractors and farm equipment from,
so that 1 billion goes right back into white hands

    Why?

With a trillion dollars spending power, and a communications technology 24/7 lack of knowledge of self is no longer an excuse since the wisdom and knowledge of all of our great Black scholars and true leaders are available on the pocket devices of every person of African descent, from 12 to 112

It is a matter of focus:thinking:

    Ankur,

Can your post be considered "whining and crying"?

Or at least the make known of said 'embarrassment'?

    If not, how not?

It is interesting how a president of the whole united states would address a particular
group of people like that for being rather disappointed in him for one reason or another,
but 'other' groups who are disappointed in him aren't told to 'stop whining or crying'.

...Is he the pot(whole)us or the "black president"? Mr. obama can't have it both ways.

    Or can he?

The independence can be start now.
Contemplate how one conducts their personal affairs and alter them.

    In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......:toast:...Although I rather use better language over whining and crying, the spirit and intent of the idea is understood. There remain some of us, as a matter of fact, many of us, having no boots to pull the straps up by. They cannot be considered as whiners and criers.

    Peace In,

A Nubian person could watch less TV and read more books to uplift the mind.
A Nubian person could create their own media and literature rather than consuming someone elses.
A Nubian person could study and master finance and investing starting with something basic such as composing a budget moving on from there.

One can very easily begin to change the administration of their personal affairs as well as how and with whom one interfaces with respect to one's personal business.

What one eats. From whom one procures food.
    What one does for entertainment.
    How one spends their money.
    Where their money flows.
How one economizes their time and energy.

I have done this i.e. change the way I administer my personal affairs. The results have been nothing less than spectacular. Individuals have way more power than the truly realize.

I think it's kind of sad that this message always seems to come along with the misconception that members of the African diaspora have accomplished nothing.

    In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......Fortunately, its only your opinion Gorilla, many of us are keenly aware of giant strides and accomplishments post the diaspora.

Yet the OP provides another example of the question being begged and bundled with some decent ideas. I'm sure even the OP could drum up their own list of accomplishments by Black people, but it gets frequently swept aside a little too much for my taste.
