Election 2016

So many pressing and critical issues ignored.

Amidst outrage about the Academy Awards whitewashing the Oscars, NBC News has managed to commit a similar misstep by largely whitewashing a Democratic presidential debate hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute. Held on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr.’s holiday, the debate was presumably intended to uplift and highlight issues facing the African-American community.

Yet the NBC News debate moderators, Lester Holt and Andrea Mitchell, committed a disservice to African Americans and the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. by failing to ask any questions — beyond gun safety, black males and police reform — that focus on the myriad of issues facing black America.

This is a critical moment in time for African Americans.

I agree wholeheartedly that we have a great myriad of pressing issues within the African populace that need addressing however, I believe that Africans need to stop looking towards what white electives are going to do and start looking at what we can do to address them...They haven't done anything yet and more than likely never will. It's an African thing not a white thing.....People need to understand that these folks don't give a crap about us.....

I strongly disagree. As long as we pay taxes and vote in this country, we should rally just as hard as any other special interest group, to have our issues addressed by those who benefit from us.

Btw, it has nothing to do with "what these folks give a crap about", it's just politics. This isn't Checkers, we are playing Chess.

If you want representation it definitely will not being coming from them. It has everything to do with what these folks give a crap about and that is money which in turn effectuates policy. He who has the money has the power and Africans ain't got the money...
