    Got his ritual from a Santeria practitioner couple years ago:

    Prepare for the New Year:

    * Get rid of clutter (clean the closet and rid yourself of any unneeded items)
    * Give these items to charity or discard if unusable.
    * Wash dirty clothes, rugs and bed linen.
    * Get a basin of water and pour ammonia or a strong cleaning agent. Clean your house including the walls and floors. When you are done throw the dirty water at the entrance of the house then wash it off.
    * Burn sage or Frankincense and Myrrh while all windows and doors are closed. When you are done, open all windows and doors and let the air out and allows fresh air inside.
    * Make sure that you have a full tank of gas.
    * Get one denomination of each currency if possible and try to avoid major expense on the last day of the year.
    * Make a list of 10 things you would like to accomplish in the new year and include at least one charitable deed.
    * Light a white candle.
    * At the stroke of midnight, turn to the east, west, north and south with a glass of water and read all the items from the list.

    A spiritual bath with Epsom salt/sea salt or cleansing botanicals (bitter) is also a good idea...beats going to parties and clubs eh?

    I usually create very detailed resolutions.. I look where I've been.. where
    I am and where I want to go.. I do that in several areas.. Physically,
    Spiritually, Intellectually, Emotionally, Financially.. etc..
