how do you love a man
the way you love your child
    without making him your son
still giving him the ground to be someone
    who drives you wild
    i think you listen intently
    to his words
    his verbs
listen like he is the only one
    in the world
    without speaking
    thinking
    how nice it would be
    if he
would just let your petals unfurl
    or how you look
and how much courage it took
to say what he just said
listen when you are standing up
as if the two of you just got out of bed
i think you should look into his eyes
    with respect
    for the struggle that lies
    behind them
    and resides in him
for the fight that calls him
whether he's in a suit and tie
or sitting on your bed getting high
i think you should rub his neck
    take him as is
    no warranty
    no money back guarantee
i think you should look for beauty
    and things that are funny
    ways to make money
    and a difference
i think you listen for his inference
    and take liberties
as if loving him is your duty
    and pleasure
    yes, loving him without measure
    unconditionally
    24 hours daily

you got this thing down pat
why do not all women think like that
    this knowledge of loving him
being the kick in his swim
being the shoes in his run
treating him like he is the only one
i get chills thinking that this may happen
    one day
    instead of the slappin
    that i recieve
    s.o.s
    mayday mayday

    nice poem truely felt...
