Jails / Prisons : How Do We Keep Young Black Men From Going To Prison?

Bootzey,

Do you think a sense of entitlement, ridiculous or otherwise, is the reason why we find a disproportionate amount of black males in prison?

Yes.

This crazy sense of entitlement that children are given today, has them thinking that people owe them something for nothing. That people have to respect them, but other folks have to earn their respect. That is not reality. As adults, they become disappointed when things do not go their way and having never learned how to deal with disappontment when they were young, they snap.

Peace and Blessings Family,

How do we keep young Black Men from going to prison?

What must we do to stop this epidemic of lost life from our homes and communities?

Thanks in advance.

Sister Destee,

All posters bring viable options to the table in answer to the broad questions you have raised. However, in my view, when you ask how can we prevent these atrocities, the only logical response would be through grassroots; since we have no National Leaders, as such.

In the absence of a single voice or a cadre of voices to command the attention of all Black People, only pockets or cells of serious minded black people can have impact, in hopes that a fire catches, creating a panacea.

As you well know, this site (Destee.com), a beacon on the Internet for black people, is capable of becoming such a grassroots operation, encompassing even a global outreach; yet there is difficulty in the midst, which prevents a proactive consensus of this small cyberspace Family, toward unity.

Maybe one day that will change and unity will abound, hopefully...Peace In my sister friend, for real.
