In most cases pride is a great thing. Sometimes it is a character flaw.
Ego. Pride for sure.
I've happen to learn over the yrs how to admit my wrong much easier and quicker than at one time in my life.
I actually find it to be quite easy and very liberating.
There is room for improvement with me on this...but I will do it.. I agree about the feeling of liberation. Nobody likes to be wrong but when I admit I am...I feel like a more well rounded person. I feel I am acting like people should...
There is some people who it would seem would chew off their own arm then just say they were wrong. I my opinion is unhealthy for one's mental state.
To expand...some debates no one will win. Not all subjects come down to a single fact which can be verified. A lot of the topics here on destee are large and encompass many things. Saying something as simple as
when someone makes one goes a long way. Their should be some mutual respect for people even if they are on opposing sides on a topic.
If someone asks me a specific question
I will answer it....out of respect.
If someone makes a good point...I will acknowledge it...out of respect.
As Salaam Alaikum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Regardless the Truth will set you Free.
Many reasons. Some do it because of Pride and Ego some do it just because they are liars.
For me I have no problem admitting I am wrong nor made a mistake or don't know something makes me feel good as a Man.
I understand the difficulty. Few people believe themselves to have come across 'right' without difficulty.
E.g. If I work out a problem that I worked 100% on, I'd probably hold onto the solution just because I put so much effort, in my perspective, in attaining it.
I have spent a lot of time working on something only to get proved wrong in seconds by another, sometimes with little effort on their part.... Should I hold onto what I worked for...or should I gain greater prespective?
