Black People : How black is black, how do you label POC and why?

Because its a completely different question.
Is it? The first sentence of your opening post reads:
There is ongoing dialogue in the black community regarding skin color (light, dark, red, yellow, etc).
and you even included different shades too.
Then you stated the who's black comment.

No one seems to get the depth of the question.
Why preface your opening with a color statement. Then say well it's not about color but who's more black. Skin tone could influence the final answer in your quest.

What da the problem is?

The Candid Conversation that Initiated this Forum

Man on the street says:
Black people black as long as they say they are. Stop identifying as black, and they aint black, no matter what color they are.

(He sees black people by what they see themselves)

His friend says:

What do you mean? Black is black is black...

(He sees it by the aesthetic)

Man: No, not if hes walking around pale skinned and dont know his black grandmama. He white.

(Now he sees not only what they see but their culture or lack thereof)

Friend: Not if hes black. If his grandmama black, hes black. It doesnt matter.

Man: he dont know his grandmama

Me: but his mom was black, and just cause his dads white and he didnt know his grandma, hes still black.

Man: not if he doesnt want to be, and not with a white daddy.

Friend: white dad or not, hes still black, whether he wants to be or not, hes black and white, but hes black and thats whats going to matter.

This literally happened in front of my face, thise whole convo. Im just curious. Theres no consensus on this and im just trying to hear all sides.

Because color influences the decision making but it isnt the whole/sole factor.
