There are 2 hands to solving the real ills we see in our major cities , like the Fratricidal Wars in Chicago, and the Bronx each weekend and the economic downslide of the Brooklyn communities of Brownsville and East New York!
It wll take as well as economic support but also;
Cultural revolution, not like Mao, but like Garvey, Clarence Allah and Dr Huey P Newton,
to transform and heal the hearts and minds of the community!
East New York , and the South side of Chicago were a much more peaceful place , before COINTELPRO , infected the national community with a Cultural Virus in the 80s!
It wll also take an antivirus ,
from that virus , to go viral, to bring about real change as well
I don't remember any big monied class behind any of the movements in the 60's. The richest class was probably the yippies and the SDS crew otherwise we were all grass roots pinching donated pennies to spread them as far as they'd go. From there on it was all a hands-on-do-it-however.
Money? Wonder how much farther we'd gotten if we'd had some.
Probably not much:

Dr. Jared Ball had an important message it's too bad it rather got buried under the tired question of if Beyonce is important or not. Whether she is or not wasn't really his point and even though he did keep trying to make that known, the class was fixated on the hip hop star.
Maybe after getting home and thinking on it the students realized what his message was.
