Hope
Sometimes, I am scared
Not because I don't know
What tomorrow is gonna bring
But because I know our children
Look up to bull**** role models
How they belittle women
Calling them ******* and hoes
Riding in their Escalades on 24's
Bragging about the dope deal
They just made
How they flaunt
Ghettoized metaphors
Preaching the teaching
That crime pays
How sad
See, they could have
Talked about
How to uplift a Nation
Like Malcolm, Garvey, and Ghandi did
Preaching teachings of salvation
Showing our youth
That tomorrow brings bright days
And with hard work
Dedication and Discipline
They could achieve anything
But they don't!
They rather teach them
How to disgrace women
That education is worthless
And the streets are promising
Smoking their blunts
On street corners
Letting life pass them by
Blinded by
The all mighty dollar
See sometimes I am scared
Wishing that tomorrow
Our children see the light
And that education
Becomes a tool for their salvation
Let them dream
The dreams of tomorrow
So that their futures
Will be promising
No child left behind
Unlike the fairy tales
That one man tells
Selling wolf tickets
From governmental offices
Still our children fall behind
High school drop out rates
At a all time high
Cause only 70% of all students
Achieve their degree
When will the madness end
Crying endless tears
Our children are at risk
Uncle Sam is serving hits
Of political bull****
Making urban children suffer
So Mr. President
I ask you
What happened
To educating
Underprivileged children?
Do they not deserve
The all American dream
I mean, happiness
Success, and prosperity
After all they are our future
The leaders of tomorrow
Should they not
Have the tools
Accessible to them
So that their futures will shine
Giving them hopes
Dreams of success
Letting them feel
What it means
To have a decent education
Letting them know
That we the people
Do care about our children
Letting them see what tomorrow
Can bring
Their futures must be protected
So Mr. President
Help us save our children
Give them the ability
To dream their dreams
