Hope Never Says Die

On this journey I'm tired
from walking...
My destination is out of sight
over the horizon...
The prize lies in a self-concept
without despising...
At times begging for a
reintegration into civilization,

hands closed always,
My minds perception,
Journeyed too long
there'll be no accepting...
so choices are start
accepting...
Or live a life where
hopes are neglected,
So many mirages
I see and run,
But turn to serpents when
inspected,
Thirst and fatigue
plague me,
Spinning 365 degrees
screaming WHY ME!

In barren land
without a compass in hand,
On uncontrollable reality I'm
constantly making demands....
Outcomes could never bow
to my whims....
Yet as if I was creator of my reality I bode
to reshape it from within,

repeating...
persisting...
maintaining...

As if an extra limb without purpose
throws my balance,
Half way through amputation I stop
as if disturbed by the silence,

Shall I sit on the
the desert floor,
Pretending the thirst calls
no more,
Until my palate
dries,
No longer needing
refreshments...
to enjoy the beautiful sun
beating down upon me
from above,
As I lay down
beside the city
gates.
