What are your thoughts on home schooled children not being able to obtain a regents diploma?

Do Ivy league colleges accept GED'S?

If you have/have'nt put your child through college, What was your plan or what is your plan to overcome this hurdle?

    You set it right.

Get a GED in the STATE your CHILD is going to COLLEGE IN. GED are equivalent to HIGH SCHOOL diplomas.

I say the STATE because SCHOOLS get FEDERAL FUNDING and STATE FUNDING. If so they must HONOR STATE declarations.

If you get the GED in the STATE your child goes to SCHOOL other than the HOME STATE, it can be used for IN-STATE TUITION which is much SMALLER VALUE that PAYING ENORMOUS OUT-OF-STATE TUITION.

Your going to have to WEIGH COST in this, TOO.

    This is good advice.

For example, I have a former student who got accepted to Boston College on a scholarship program, but attended a local Prep school first and then saved tuition costs when entering BC.

In some cases, I would also suggest attending a community college rather than apply directly to an Ivy League, also to save costs, and some community colleges have GED programs whick also can combine coursework with an Associate degree program.

Sorry, I am not aware of problems concerning home schooling. My daughter attended a charter high school and attended a preparatory college prior to admission to Emory University.
