HIV-AIDS Staggers African-Americans

Monday’s 16th annual observance of World AIDS Day finds the global epidemic taking an exceptionally hard toll on America’s African-American community.
Although African-Americans comprise about 12 percent of the United States population, they account for nearly half of all new HIV infections being reported in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
