Poverty wasn't planted within thy seed

from which we was born as da black creed

The struggle dewelled in da infested hearts
through years and years like a thorn bark

History of yesteryears my soul cry
buried in bitter soil da spirits fly

We once stood in da beauty of motherland
until da brutal slash stolen by man
taken to da grounds they call A-meri-kan

Plantational wrap slaved as scarlet souls
da true nightmare of beaten / raped so cold
still seeking freedom never tamed or mold

Labled as a people a community they call ghetto
with broken promises dreams and pain dat grow
rapid fire , "bang" as da blood flow

    Death ships sailed da sea
seeking searching for african like me
to work there landz they say is free
    under this lady call liberty

I'm now in tears from my own tree
how da roots rotten and wilt what's breed
    history now spreading new seeds

I'm no longer a struggle at hand
because i stood and learn i'm a black man
i know of my forefathers & ancestors too
and the hand they was delt through & through

I've walked in da village of bloody rockz
stood at the shores of salty dockz
crossed the maze of never ending blockz
timeless moments from da tic of da toc

I no longer can be held down
from the deeds dat make me frown
but fly free from thy loom
bitter soil released lay at thy tomb

Here we are in this new time age
still feeling da slam of da cage
shutting us out , selling us out
is this what our mentals about

    We've jump many tall hurdles
    passed every obstacle at hand
still we can't rise as da black ameri-men

Dying in da historical bitter soil
that has my blood on steamy boil
from da coil of his pit
and the strike of his whip

    History continue to repeat itself
    soon there be nothing left
if we don't unite a unity against oppression
    within our own have compassion
    to new history of everlasting

    We're not inherently poor
a people always begging for more

We were captured and shackled in chains
driven to despair by slave master's reins

    Some cycles continue to turn
The flames of racism continue to burn

Charring the soil of our family
Salting the earth despite our history
Can new seedlings grow in this misery?

    Perhaps some see each other
as someone else's sister and brother
Maybe we even fear one another

For a change let's see each other as a reflection
mirror images of ourselves regardless of
    wealth, education, or Nubian complexion

We are so much more than we appear to be
Let's learn more about what lies within
I'll learn more about you, as you discover me
Chances are, we'll make an astounding discovery
we actually do rise in unity

Keep those deep scribes coming Rich, keep us thinking...

    Kissing fate against da odds
    as black humans at large
yes we been hit by self pain
that now leaving a nasty stain
yet we rise , let us now claim
from thy history of many names

    Unity is a united stand
    bond together woman & man
beyond da color shade and belief
we are still da blood of africa tree
as a people we rich in wisdom
    knowledge to rule any kingdom
up the road lay our true freedom

This bitter soil we now stand
    wasn't our ancestors plan
but we here stolen by da man
    never to forget our motherland
    Ms.sweet sweet African

Thank u sista we must make a change now so in the next 100 years we can be free
