A Hero ain't nothing but a sandwich
Cold cuts, cheese and mayo on bread
It just needs to taste good
A Hero ain't a person alive or dead

Heroes and role models
People we don't even know
Forced upon us by the media
In newspapers, television and motion picture shows

Athletes, entertainers
Giving them real-side importance
Indeed a joke
I look up to plain old folk
Honest and unpretentious
Those who work hard at something everyday
Those having heart-felt things to say

A smile for a child
A helping hand
To all a friend
Not on a high horse
Being admired by weak-minded men

Men seeking autographs
Kissing another man's feet
A Hero ain't nothing but a sandwich
It's not to be adored
It's just something to eat
