    Glasses up!
    Here’s to you!
You great poets and writers who have paved the way for all of us.

As I look around and see the many inventions of the world my mind takes me back to my ancestors. How they worked through pain, blood, sweat and tears and never got to see the fruits of their labor. I could take a walk down Ego Trippin lane but Nikki Giovanni walked it first. Thank you

When I think about all the things we have today and the level of success it took for us to receive them, I have to say thank you Gwendolyn Brooks and may you rest in peace. She said “We Real Cool” but many of us were fools for dropping out of school.

I was never Wounded In The House Of A Friend but thank you Sonia Sanchez for understanding those who were and for not being afraid to lend your voice because they can’t find theirs.

So many women and children are physically abused at the hands of a man who takes out his anger on them daily. In a world where often times the motto is: “what goes on in this house stays in this house”. Thank you Rochelle Alers for writing stories about domestic violence.

Here’s to you Mary B. Morrison for addressing the consequences of promiscuity in your books.

Last but not least thank you E. Lynn Harris for your great storytelling gift. Even though all may not agree with your subject matter you still have the gift to make us want to read your books because of your humor, talent and love for others.

    Here’s to you!
    Thank you
