A few years back, I was blessed to hear a teaching by International Evangelist Bob Gass from Scotland. I've made a few amendments to it, but the majority of it is intact:
WARNING SIGNS:
We often DON'T make our best decisions for the Lord because we don't take the time to check the warning signs in our lives. We don't HALT before we progress....
One cannot make sound decisions if they are:
H=Hungry, Hurting, or Horny (last one mine)
A=Anxious, Angry, or Apathetic (last one mine)
L=Lonely or Lustful (last one mine)
T=Tired or Tempted (last one mine)
Just like you have to 'check the lable' when handling a dangerous chemical, we have to check ourselves when faced with a decision on something, and aren't 'right' within ourselves.
I will forever be grateful to Bob Gass for sharing this, more than ten years ago! It causes me to 'check myself' before taking the 'low' ground, instead of the 'high' ground.
