    In the Spirit of Sankofa!

    shantrycelashae,

Welcome to Destee.com, really wish I could help you, but this topic gives me no motivation, honestly; I am sure you will receive help though. To offer brief explanation of my posture about this, our people have been so wrapped up with incarceration, until it is just not a glamorous subject to spend time, effort, research and argument on, in my view.

Sister ShantryCelashae ... Welcome Welcome Welcome !!! ...

I'm not a scholar, didn't go to college, but I have a Daughter that did / is, and so I posed your question to her, and she said ... (I'm paraphrasing because she was rushing me off the phone, as she's out to dinner and the waiter is taking their order, as she's speaking to me.)

What you need to do is find scholarly research on this topic, preferably from scholars in your own specific field of study. Research books, articles, journals, publications, etc., they've written on this topic. Then, based on the evidence (from the scholarly researchers), determine what position you're going to take, and argue it, using that same research.

So, the first step it seems, is for you to find some scholarly research on this topic.

What is your major, if you don't mind sharing?

Good luck, and please let us know how it all turns out, what kind of grade you get on the paper!

    Love You!

my major is Mass Communications... with a concentration on Public Relations... i decided to take a stance in saying that the socieconomical status of an individual plays a major role in whether a female chooses to do good or bad.

in what way does this impact black people?
are you relating this to black youth or is it just a general topic?

Dr Joy Degruy, is a psychologist specializing for over 20 years in healing adolescent young women, from all types of delinquent and criminal behavior, and she has a philosophy regarding the underlying motivations that may be behind such behavior.
It mite be easy for you to tasilor the subject to just one ethnic group or race of juveniles, for instance the Dr. concetrates on those of African descent.

1 The context of previous familial abuse
2 The context of an early life of poverty
3 The context of growing in a criminal oriented environment
4 The context of peer pressure

are some foundational influences that mite lead to such pathology

but since it is for English class please be on your Ps and Qs regading your grammatical structure, syntax and particulary prepositional phrases

When you seriously and deeply care about your people, and the common good of the race,

What Putney Swope mentioned above is great information. That could be very useful for you in your research. However, if you need any further assistance, feel free to let us know.

I too am a college student - not currently enrolled, but definitely understand what's likely ahead for you (academic and otherwise) as you undergo this 'phase' of college.

Peace and Blessings, and if not said already, Welcome to the Fam!
