    HELLO BRIJANÉ

Hello Brijané … I greet you on this wise
I see you have a sparkle in the gems that are your pretty brown eyes
As I take a brief irridological assessment and an ocular poll
Looking into your eyes … the windows to your soul
The eyes are very telling of a persons mood
And can convey looks of levity or leering looks that are rude
They betray a persons true self, if read correctly
And in order to be read they have to be looked into, directly
What I see in your eyes is an earth toned collage
An oasis in eye lashes … an optical massage
And like the haystack is the haven for a needle or a tossed pin
Your eyes in their honest expressiveness is something to get lost in
In all that I said, my greeting is less coquettish and more gracious
Though it may sound as such at first, it’s not meant to be flirtatious
It is though, as much a part of my charm, as to a matrix is the column and the row
Which I see incites a blush with a greeting as standard as hello

Hello Brijané … I knew that you’ve been you for a while
So I know you well enough to know that yours is a genuine smile
As are other related facial features for such categories to fit in
In the spectrum of smiling, ranging from a smirk to a smile, to a grin
Even with a straight face you light up a room
And with that kind of radiance, one has to assume
That the inner you is as warm and personable as is the sunshine in May
Or the blazing of a fire place on a cold winders day
The upward curl of lips – the very definition of a grin
Exposing enamel that turns to a smile with equally warm words contained there in
And at times your flow of words trickles down to a hush
It is then that this every changing smile morphs into a blush
As do the crush of dried rose petals add to the scent of potpourri
Your smile adds to the experience of saying hello to you Bri
As I walk away with an image to take with me all day long
With your smile flashing in my mind like the melody of my favorite song

Hello Brijané … I’m not held in suspense
When I hear you talk, I hear a measure of innocence
That I have to say is just as refreshing as a cool breeze that goes by
Particularly when you say things like “gosh” and “oh my”
That just makes me say to myself “Oh My Goodness”
An innocence amidst of chaos - contrary to personal cognizance and how I understood this
‘This’, being life as I’ve known it and people as they’ve shown me human tendencies
To utter profane and vain language … Your speak is different that these
I hear your innocence in your curious tones with the questions that you ask
Taking note of the courage of your interrogative nature with no shame to mask
I hear it in the talk of your experience and of the things that you’ve seen
I take not of what you notice and eye the things to which you’re keen
As part of your charm, your naiveté is simply adorable
A part of you that I neither lament for or find deplorable
Which is another lucent and bright spot in my day
And yet another reason I like to say “Hello Brijané”

Hello Brijané … as are the placements of your dimples
I admire how you keep being you, cute and simple
Not having to reinvent yourself to be like others around you
But by being yourself, you’re someone that people gravitate towards and are bound to
Your eyes are as pretty as the portrait of a dawns view
Giving looks of levity that people are drawn to
Communicating a friendliness that comes from the inside, out
Quietly telling of who you are on the inside, with no reason to shout
Your innocence is endearing … something not to shrug
A quality that is so precious that I just want to give you a hug
Added to that, the warmth of a smile that both encourage and inspires
Causing people to gather around you as they’d gather around camp fires
Like a puzzle, put together and all the pieces in place
You are a summary of ‘Nice’ and it can be seen on your face
A part of you that I was privileged to see … having taken the time today
Which makes it all-the-more worth while to say “Hello Brijané”

Wow... I loved the detail of this piece, the way you described her eyes, her smile, her voice, so that we could almost see her. I also appreciated your use of alliteration, this piece was so endearing and well scribed poet.

I think its refreshing to see someone so taken by another in a society that thrives off of isolationist tendencies... its sweet that you are otherwise :)

Street So'Ja asked the question that I was saiting for someone to ask :) This is a real person, and it made her feel really special. I seriously doubth that there will be lunch or diner in that sense, because I'm choosing to take the high road ... and I'm saying that without having to say too much. She is a sweet woman though ... this is why I wrote it :)
