did you like the movie?
I saw it. It was sad and creepy. But it would have to be a good movie to elicit a response like that.
I haven't seen it yet. I heard it was very long and has a lot of subtitling.
Add that to the way Spike Lee's movies usually are, it would better for me
to watch it at home. So I'm waiting for the dvd.
finally sat down and watched it today.. what a mess.. Not one of Spike's
better efforts.. he was in over his head.. WW2 films have a standard that you
cant just skip over.. I thought the writing was all over the place.. I could see
what he wanted to do.. and he did it.. but this is not a movie that you would
see more than once.. The subtitles werent a problem but the way the story
meandered about bordered on frustrating.. I think spike got lost on how
to bridge the Realism and the Mysticism.. it's like he just forgot to do it.. or
ran out of budget or something.. anyway.. I think A Soldiers Story (1984)
did a much better job in covering some of the same ground.. it was in the
form of a murder mystery but it was effective and well written..
