Actually I have. I put in my telephone number and it produced my name, address, even had a map to my home. Google had a link to remove the information and they had it down within 24hours.

I found that unsettling though, especially since I'm unlisted in my LOCAL phonebook. I felt violated.

anyone can find you, if they want to: and they wouldnt need the internet to do it - the 6 degrees of separation - in that everyone is no more than six "steps" away from each person on Earth. :D

btw - I googled all my addy's and came up negative. phone numbers too. my name, on the other hand.. woo hoo!!

Thats true. Fact of the matter is, they can pay one of these "people-finder" sites and find you.

But, I really didnt need Google providing a map to my home free of charge. Geez, if I have a nut stalking me then at least make them pay. (preferably leaving a paper trail.)

Oh yeah, BlackMamba - if you know where to look you can find out almost anything about anyone.. for free. and for a minimal fee, it would be just as if I was rustling through your desk drawers.. It is shocking indeed.

    You're absolutely right Sis

There are many ways to find this information. But, I was definitely uncomfortable with it being on a well known search engine. I wouldnt consider myself paranoid; but in a way I am protective of my privacy.
