I started to think about this yesterday in class in the chat room how many of us brothers have been warned about bringing home a white woman. Me, myself have never and would never bring one homemore than likely due to the warnings i received from moms and grandmoms. I saw up close and personal how grandma treated a white girlfriend of my older cousin when he came home from college. In his defense, he went to a school in vermont on a basketball scholarship and was roomates with the late DJ Scott La Rock. That's all they were surrounded by was white girls, his only mistake was bringing her to grandma's house.....lol

I posted 2 of grandma's sayings/warnings in chat yesterday that i heard up until the day i went off to college and they were:

"If she don't get ashey, don't bring that b-itch past me"

"If she don't use cocoa butter, don't introduce her to your mother"

(she's probably the reason i love rhyming so much)

Can you remember some of the warnings you received?

My mom has told me she'd perfer me to date black women & is not fond of me dating a white woman. My dad doesn't care.

But my mom has not shunned me from bringing a white girl home. I know she'd support it despite her personal feelings

I can respect that. Like i said my cousin decided to test the waters and found out that the sea's currents were way too much for his 'companion' to handle. She never came back...

My brothers certainly were warned! (lol) ---White people were welcomed in our home as guests, even for dinner....but her sons "BET' NOT brang no white girl home" to mama! (lol)

*Plus, they knew their sisters woulda CLOWNED them as well* (lol)

Now, my brothers may have "dipped" in some white pools just cuz they could (lol); but they never outwardly dated a white girl nor brought one home to mama.

But, coming up in the 60s and 70s as they did, experiencing racism as they did, knowing what their ancestors and mother went through, they wouldn't have ever been attracted to a white girl to even CONSIDER bringing one home, any way.

One of my brothers never married....(He died young in the military.)

But, my other brother married BLACK.

Let's just say that my sister telling my mom that she(my sister) was dating "a white boy with gold teeth" was enough to make her (my mom) blood boil. I'm just glad it wasn't true. I've been scared at the thought of bringing a white chick home ever since, though
