Thanks for the link. I recently purchased a musical anthology he put together. Seems as if Elder Belafonte is making up for some early criticism of his political orientation, or lack therof..Good to see him taking such a progressive stand!

Yeah, he's the man. You know they put his butt right up next to Osama on that terror watch list. He's over there in South America chillin with Hugo Chavez and whatnot. You know they're watching him. Good for him though. I'm glad he said what he said because it's the truth. This fool on cable was trying to despue what Mr. Belefonte said by saying "How can we (U.S) be terrorist, we don't kill innocent civilians intentionally". A true right winger. I'm glad he's talking up a storm.

the way he is talking now, that is the way our leaders used to talk back in the day. then we got away from plain old truth telling.
glad to see he is bringing it back.

And he's also doing a smart thing by getting close to other leaders that are opposed to the United States Imperialist agenda. Knowing Hugo Chavez doesn't hurt, and by letting the public see the two of them together, united with their stances is a great way to turn the opinions of many people around concerning the way this country is going. I don't see why more of our "leaders" don't do the same thing. The leaders in South America are uniting against the United States. That was evident when bush went down there for the trade talks late last year. Why is it that our "leaders" just sit back and talk the same rhetoric, but Harry Belafonte can find his was down to South America to meet with Hugo Chavez. It seems like a no-brainer to me. We should be taking advantage of the things we have in common, especially since he (Hugo Chavez) and Fidel Castro have reached out numerous times to help poor people in this country.

i think a lot of black people have become more advanced than the current leadership. we need a charismatic firebrand to pull us together.
of course, they tend to kill that type.

I agree with the first part of your statement and will reserve comment concerning the latter part because I am still contemplating this leadership isse. But it is quite evident that "a lot of black people have become more advanced" even though some of us may not agree on this point.

Harry Belafonte was a key part of the late 80s anti-apartheid movement's cultural boycott and a major supporter of TransAfrica...he and danny Glover have really spoken out in a way that a lot of us are not aware of..
