I would like to know some of your opinions on the new Harlem Club and the requirements for women. This exclusive club will open in the latter part of 2004 for Blacks and Latinos in New York. But check out the requirements for men and women to be able to considered to apply. For men, a college degree is PREFERRED, an annual membership of $2500, 21 years old or older, and good standing in the community. Now for women, a college degree is REQUIRED, SINGLE WITH NO CHILDREN, PHOTO FROM HEAD TOE, and 21-39 years old. But hey ladies at least your membership is free. For all ladies who feel they are qualified, would you apply or would you be offended. Please check out their website www.harlemclub.com.

How are they planning on investigating these women to see if they REALLY are without children or have a degree??? They have a men's membership club similar to that here in Seattle...and I have to tell you that if they chose to be that strict, the club would be empty. But private clubs can set any rules they choose to but in this case I would skip the membership no matter what my status was.

That is what I really want to know..................

I guess if you have to send them a copy of your drivers license, maybe you got to send them a copy of your degree as well as a sworn testimony from your gynecologist. Go figure, you might have to send your credit report and a blood sample for a membership to this brothel for professionals.

I think they will emphasize more on beauty, since you have to submit your photo before you can receive an application.

Actually this proposed "club" is not really for Blacks & Latinos. Although that is the advertised purpose, White men will be allowed membership...so I really don't see the point. First of all why establish a club to fill the void of African American & Latino American membership into white clubs, only to let Whites become members of your club. Secondly why advertise a place to network with Black & Latinos professionals when the obvious purpose is not to network, but to meet women. Thirdly I do not know anyone who would pay $2,500-$3,500 (the fee has been raised) for the chance to meet women that they may not even like. After all yahoo personals are free. :grin: I can understand sistas outrage at the rules, and double standards....but I don't think this "club" is going to be around that long (if it even gets off the ground).
