Just Curious about what are we doing family to live in harmony with the Earth? Do we recycle? Do we purposefully reuse? Do we purposefully take mass transit? Come on now, I know that it ain't just white folks that care about the planet. Add on.

    Peace

I am volunteering at a local Boys & Girls club. Today, we are having the children plant seeds.

I'd say more, but they're waiting on me!

What is the rest of the Fam doing?

    Bootzey,

It is a nice gesture, Earth Day and all, however, there are turbulent times ahead, the earth is increasingly hotter, entropy, super volcanoes are coming, tsunamis, and floods as a result of the ice caps melting in the North and Iceland, not to mention the overall green house effect, etc…So any house keeping will only be wiped out in huge proportions, I hate to sound pessimistic, but its all in the forecast. Actually, I just hoping Barack can keep the ship afloat and beat the recession.

    Um.... Okay....?

    Anywho....

I recycle, reuse, and have vowed to not purchase new clothing for 1 year. It's been since September of 2008, so I'm more than halfway through. I take mass transit even though I have a new car in my garage, as much as possible. I go to the store frequently with reusable bags. I refuse certain purchases in plastic. I don't use paper towels or napkins at home. I have a ton of linen/cloth napkins that I will use. And I try to purchase my food locally. Oh yeah. I don't use plastic garbage bags. They will take your trash either in a container or in those paper yard waste bags. You just gotta tell them.

I'd like to know what y'all do. Sometime folks have ideas that other folks hadn't even thought of..... Even if you don't agree with it.

    Peace

Sister Bootzey ... i noticed you posted this yesterday ... was yesterday like a real EarthDay Holiday ... or ... is Earth Day every day?

I must confess, i'm not much of a recycler ... but i'll listen in and get tips and begin thinking on it more ... now that you've given it to me to think about it.

    Thanks Sister.

Sister Bootzey ... since you posted this thread, i've learned, that some states make it easy for those that live within, to recycle. They pay money for plastic, aluminum, and glass bottles and cans. Here in Alabama, shoooooot ... it aint none of that stuff going on.

I guess as time progresses though, more states will begin to do things to encourage folk to recycle.
