    Armistice Day

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Armistice Day (also known as Remembrance Day) is on 11 November and commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I, which took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning—the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918. While this official date to mark the end of the war reflects the cease fire on the Western Front, hostilities continued in other regions, especially across the former Russian Empire and in parts of the old Ottoman Empire.
    The date was declared a national holiday in many allied nations, to commemorate those members of the armed forces who were killed during war. An exception is Italy, where the end of the war is commemorated on 4 November, the day of the Armistice of Villa Giusti.
    After World War II, the name of the holiday was changed to Veterans Day in the United States and to Remembrance Day in countries of the British Commonwealth of Nations. Armistice Day remains an official holiday in France and Belgium, known also as the Day of Peace in the Flanders Fields.

    Men and women of African descent have enlisted and been drafted into wars that they had hoped were wars of a just cause

    the revolution against great Britain and monarchy, the Civil war against the kidnappers and torturers of African people, World War One; going to fight for Abbysinia against Italy, inspired by the UNIA. fighting Fascism and their desire to anihilate the Black race in World War 2,

    but after that things got a little fuzzy;
    Korea,

    Vietnam,

    El Salvador,

    Panama,

    Iraq,

    Afghanistan

    So many veterans became veterans for peace;

    Vietnam Veterans against the War
    www.vvaw.org/

    Iraq Veterans against the War
    ivaw.org/

    and some started to look at the statements of WW I General Smedley Butler,
    and encourage others to do the same;

    and the reasons why the US has been going to war fervently:

    and conning the public about reasons we should believe in;

    The definition of the word in general

    An armistice is a situation in a war where the warring parties agree to stop fighting. It is not necessarily the end of a war, but may be just a cessation of hostilities while an attempt is made to negotiate a lasting peace. It is derived from the Latin arma, meaning weapons and statium, meaning a stopping.

    But in terms of the Global Black Community;

    we need an armistice of street gangs killing each other over drug turf and innocent bystanding, sisters and brothers and thier children,
    like what had happened to a mother protecting her child from gunshots in Brownsville Brooklyn

    we need an armistice in the Motherland, and stop fighting each other at the behest and interest of our former colonizers, or just plain greed .
