    You hadn't written in years?
    Yes...it's true...
A talent, not abused, but admittedly, not used
A muse lost, creative growth stunted, at any cost
    Hadn't written in years
Amid the joy and the tears
There surely was a plethora of life
to write about. Losing the maternal lifeline, then
becoming one, finding love, becoming a wife...
Yes, there were other passions to pursue.
    So many responsibilities too.
And in the midst of it all
I lost myself. First a pause, then, a stall,
The years zoomed by, and it dawned on me
part of self had died for what seemed to be an eternity.
The harder I fought to get myself back
the more remote I became, soul under attack.
The persecuted mind would not cut me any slack.
So I waved the white flag, slipped on a fake toe tag,
and buried my essence in a shallow grave.
The trying was too heinous. The diamond, submerged
in the rough, I just couldn't save.
Year after year, after year, after year...
When the year came when I pulled back yet another cover,
something so shattering, was there waiting for me to rediscover.
I had never stopped touching love's sighs
    seeing a symphonic interlude
    or hearing a sun rise.
It was tracing my mind every second
    ever in my guise
I simply had stopped writing it down....

But once U do, it's like releasing the hounds...
    opening the floodgates...
creating a monster that wreaks havoc on minds...

    And it's all good.

    Very nice, piece.

Trying to get myself together before I respond, this was as close to the core as I could get.
NicoleM thanks for the props on this, you are so talented, hope you like it here.
Thank you so much Khasm, yes, it's what came out of a thorough search.
Rich, wow back to ya, for responding so, thanks a bunch for being so supportive, no matter what.
You think so, mzblkangel? Thank you for that.
Gee, thank you Positive. Yes, the pen is running wild for sure, but it's ok.

"So I waved the white flag, slipped on a fake toe tag"

My goodness, sister, this is just incredibly beautiful. The kinda thing I could read once a day just because I wanted to feel good. Wow.
