a story told and retold of family land....stole and sold to the highest buyer all because...."had a little fire" "had a little fire" in the courthouse happened again and again across the South where racist flames got out of hand and burned the deeds to Black land so records showing taxes paid paid from the sweat of crops made and knee sessions, looking higher were lost cause "had a little fire" been telling and retelling our story of theft, gory midnites and vainglory for from 1902-1965 "had a little fire" now stop cussing me, call A.P. a liar cause the nobleness to which you aspire has been ignited like a Viking pyre and the claims of laziness, lack of desire now burn your tongue cause "had a little fire this story had been a part of my families history since 1932 when my granfather lost 175 acres in east Ga. cause "had a little fire".And almost happened again to my great-uncle in 1956 when towns all over Ga. "had a little fire". But history had taught him so stockpliled ever reciept and was able to save his 175 acres. In 1981 my siblings and I were able to afford 50 acres of the ancestral property. T he Associated Press just ran a story detailing the lost of Black land all across the South because of theft by violence and case unable to be documented because "Had A Little Fire". But could document that Black folksonce owned 15 million acres in the South. But today only own about 2 million acres and records show how this lost was brought about. Sorry about my long wind but finally feeling vindicated because for years have been accused of lying by bith friends and foes.
